Everybody knows you as the Instagrammer from Cluj but please introduce yourself in a few words, tell me a little bit more.
Victor Petric is a young sculptor and he is passionate about visual arts, no matter in what form. One of the most loved passions for him is photography and he tries to keep it alive. He represents mobile photography and shares different perspectives, personal feelings, but most of all, the love of streets, people and the life from Cluj. Many would say Victor is a sociable person, open-minded and creative.
I heard that you are an artist and you love photography. Which one fits you better?
In my opinion, the thing that suits me the most is photography. I let people decide whether I am an artist or not. Nobody should call themselves artists unless others agree.
If I can say, you are one of the most active Instagrammers in Cluj-Napoca. What does being an Instagrammer mean to you? What kind of events did you organize in the past?
I don’t know if I am the most active Instagrammer from Cluj-Napoca, but I can say that I’m one of them, from the top. And what begin an Instagrammer means to me… is to be able to capture moments, to share pictures with those who have the same passions. About events: I organized a few Instameets (activities for Instagrammers from Cluj and not only) and I tried to create a local community… I don’t know if had been successful, but at least I made a lot of friends and met so many talented people. We visited together different Instagramable spots, we were out in nature where we were having at a picnic, we attended artistic events at Fabrica de Pensule and we went to the city center just to enjoy a great coffee. Now I would like to take the opportunity and express my gratitude towards Olivo Caffe, ETC Studio and Platinia Shopping Center for supporting us.
What is your recommendation for a good Photograph?
For me, good pictures tell me something. I prefer stories in the background. When I take pictures, I look for good compositions and beautiful chromatics. The images I take need to have rhythm.
When and why did you start building your Instagram page? What can we find there?
My first Instagram post was on the 23rd of February 2013, it was a long time ago and now I try to post every day. On my IG page, you can find images of our beautiful and beloved Cluj and not only. I feature places, humans, animals and at the same time, I try to capture feelings and express them through my pictures!
As an Instagrammer, I know that everybody has a lot of pages. #DiscoverAnotherRomania is in your profile’s description. Tell me more about this project!
About DiscoverAnotherRomania: I haven’t had enough time for this project, and since I do not like to rush things and I would never want to be seen as superficial, I haven’t achieved my goals related to this project yet. But it is something that I care about a lot: to show the beauties of Romania in a different way. I know that there are a few others accounts going in a similar direction, but this will be something different. Something about people, places, and feelings, a project that will grow naturally, presenting a different Romania.
Favorite place on the planet?
Out in the nature surrounded by beautiful people.
I know that you are from Transylvania and you live in Cluj-Napoca, Transylvania’s biggest city. What do you like the most about it and why?
What I like the most about Cluj is the people from here, their energy, the ever-increasing number of the events we can enjoy. There are many things binding me to this place, that’s why I have decided to come back from Poland.
Which one is your favorite city in Transylvania and what is the best thing you can do here?
In my opinion, Cluj-Napoca is the most beautiful city. The funny thing about the people living in Cluj is that sometimes they have slow reactions: however, I like it this way, because the advantage of that is that they are very analytical, so fun to have conversations with.
If you had to choose the most important fact about Transylvania, what would it be?
The role that Transylvania plays in the life of Romanian people is essential. And nonetheless, it has an amazing and important historical background.
A recommendation for a foreign visitor in Transylvania?
I would recommend to a stranger to get in contact with people, to visit and discover everything on foot, to enjoy the architectural wonders of Cluj and the beautiful landscapes that nature provides.
