Let me introduce you in a few words, Paula. She is a very bright open-minded Travel Instagrammer, student, and a fashion addict. As a first question, please tell me a little bit more about yourself.
Where are you from, what are you doing, what are your passions?
Hello, it’s me, Paula Pintilii, a fourth-year student from the Technical University of Cluj Napoca, Romania, where I study Electrical Engineering. Like any other young woman, my biggest passion is traveling, photography and fashion (I must admit, I’m a shopaholic) and I usually use this as a way of adding color to my personality.
What drives you crazy about your dreams? Which one was the biggest one?
I have big aspirations and I usually try to go beyond my limitations, because I like to know that I did everything I could in the process of making my dreams come true.My biggest dream, when I was younger, was going to New York City, 2 years ago I achieved my dream, the feeling was amazing.
We heard that you are a passionate traveler. Tell me more about it.
This is true! This passion started when I went to university, at that time I started to participate in some Erasmus + exchange programs (one in Paris and one in Milan) and after I applied to the Work and Travel Programme. For me it was amazing, I had the opportunity to visit a lot of places in America and Europe. Since then everything changed, I just can’t stay in one place, I want to visit new places and experience new things every day!
You had the chance to travel all around the world via some Exchange Programs and Work and Travel. What is your experience about these?
For me it was amazing, after this programs it’s not only that I’m more mature but I get to see the world in a new way. You go there alone and you get to meet a lot of new people from different countries, you get to study or to work in completely other environments, with other words you are getting out of your comfort zone and this feeling is amazing.
Another thing I learned during my exchange programs it’s to enjoy multiculturality, to accept and love everyone, to try to discover new cultures and people from all around the world. Another big advantage is that you can make this almost for free!
A few recommendation for students who want to join Work and Travel?
1)Don’t find excuses, I know it’s hard to apply, you are really nervous about it, but it will be amazing, trust me! Even if your friends don’t want to come, just go, I went there alone and I think it was the best decision ever.
2)Be open-minded, American culture and people are really different from ours.
3)Set your priorities, if you are going there for money or for fun (or both).
2) Pay attention when you choose the city where you will work, don’t choose something too big or a place that is isolated, choose a touristic city. Because you will go there in the summer the perfect option is somewhere near the ocean.
3)Do a research before you go there, try to find out things about the place you will work, about other people who will work with you etc.
4) Don’t forget to have fun and make friends when you are there.
5)At the end of the program, you can travel for a month, don’t miss this chance, it’s amazing to see all the places you can only see in movies!
With travel photography, blogging, vlogging is another reasonable passion. In your case which one fits the best?
I love photography, when I was in 12 I received my first photo camera, so I grew up with this.
I love to capture every single moment because I want to show to other people how beautiful the world is!
What is your recommendation for a good Photograph?
My recommendations are:
1) If you want to take good pictures, invest in a good camera, quality is really important!
2) Good photos take time! Sometimes I’m spending 10-20 min for a good photo. But it worth it!
3) Use natural light.
4) Use editing apps- I use a lot of editing apps especially for lighting, they make magic if you know what to use and how to use.
Best way to travel all around the world? Alone, with friends, by car, by plane? What are your recommendations?
Well, I always had fun when I was traveling with my friends, but when you travel alone, you get the chance to discover yourself and interact with a lot of new people so I would say: alone!
Regarding transportation, it depends if I want to save time I will choose the plane, if not I would choose the car because you can stop and admire the sight.
When and why you started your Instagram page? What we can find there?
I started my Instagram page in 2012, back then I didn’t know much about Instagram, and it was just for fun.In the last 2 years, my Instagram page changed a lot, you can find photos from my trips and of course recommendations.
A place where you would go back at any time?
Paris or New York City, I can’t decide!
Let’s talk a little bit about Transylvania. What do you like the most it?
I think the thing that I appreciate the most is the fact that people keep their traditions, in a world like this, you must really appreciate that people don’t forget their roots and their traditions.
Which one is your favorite city in Transylvania and what is the best thing you can do here?
My favorite place is the city where I live, Cluj Napoca. Cluj it’s the biggest city in Transylvania, it’s a college town too! This city has everything you need, you can visit Unirii square and see St.Michael’s church (it has an amazing architecture !), museums, Cetatuia hill (for a great view) or just wander around the city and admire the architecture! If you are interested in having fun I recommend you to participate at two of the best European festivals: the Untold festival or Electric Castle (you will not regret it !)
What do you like the most about the people from here?
People are really friendly and welcoming, they will really try to make you feel like home, show you our traditional dishes and the surroundings.
